About Smudging and How To:

Smudging is a practice often used to cleanse spaces of negative or stagnant energy, attract positivity, and create a more harmonious environment. Palo Santo, Sage, and Selenite are all tools commonly used for these purposes. Here's how you can incorporate them into a home smudging ritual.

1. Set an intention:  Before you begin, reflect on what you want to achieve with this ritual. Do you want to: 

• Clear out old, stagnant energy?
• Invite in peace, love, or creativity?
• Create a sacred space for meditation or relaxation?
• Release stress or emotional tension?                                                                         

Setting a clear intention will help amplify the effectiveness.

2. Open windows and doors: This allows negative energy (and smoke) to leave your home and fresh energy to enter.

3. Gather your tools: Before you light, ensure you have a fireproof dish (like an abalone shell or ceramic bowl) to catch ashes, and a way to light the sticks (matches or a lighter). (You might also choose to use a feather or your hand to help direct the smoke).

4. Sage First:  (optional) before smudging the space, cleanse yourself by wafting the smoke around your body. You might start from your feet and move upwards, visualizing the smoke clearing away any unwanted energy. Begin on the lowest level of your home and work your way up. Move clockwise through each room, allowing the smoke to reach every corner, doorway, and window. You can use your hand or a feather to gently waft the smoke around.

As you move through the space, you can recite a prayer, mantra, or simply focus on your intention, visualizing the smoke clearing out old, stagnant, or negative energy and filling the space with light and positive vibrations. 

• Light the sage bundle and allow it to smolder.
• Direct the smoke around the space, focusing on areas that feel heavy or stagnant.
• Visualize the smoke removing negativity. Affirmations or prayers like, “I release what no longer serves me” can be used.
• Extinguish the sage completely when finished (in bowl of sand or press burnt end in fireproof bowl). 

5. Palo Santo second: focusing on your intention for joy, peace, and clarity.

• Light the Palo Santo stick and let it burn for 30 seconds to 1 minute before blowing out the flame. (Palo Santo does not stay lit for long, it is the nature of the wood, you will have to re-light).
• Move through areas where positive energy is desired.
• Repeat affirmations or prayers, such as, "I am surrounded by light and positivity".
• Palo Santo can be reused and will extinguish on its own in a fireproof dish.

 6. Selenite for amplification and charging: You can hold the selenite wand during your smudging ritual, or place it in a prominent location in your home, especially areas you want to keep energetically clear.

• Selenite wands can be used to direct energy and clear your aura.
• Can place selenite in corners to maintain clear energy and protect the space.
• Selenite can cleanse and charge other crystals.
• Keep selenite dry as it is soft. 

7. Amethyst Crystal: Incorporating amethyst into your smudge ritual can enhance the experience by adding a layer of calming and spiritually connected energy. Before or during your smudging ritual, hold your amethyst and clearly state your intention for the cleansing. This could be to release negativity, invite peace, enhance intuition, or create a sacred space. You can keep the amethyst in the cleansed space to continue benefiting from its energy. 

8. Closing the Ritual:

• After smudging, take a moment to express gratitude.
• Enjoy the refreshed atmosphere of your space.
